MIKKE (CH Dakotaspirit Just Like Jesse James) was an International Show Champion C.I.B., but also Champion in Finland and Italy. I know him from the time when he lived with his owner and breeder Minna in Italy and we trained together – at that time me with Julia. I remember him as a well-balanced male with very good working qualities. Furthermore his pedigree is very interesting to me. When I visited Minna in Finland in February, I was very impressed by her dogs` temperament and expression, and it reminded me why Flatcoated Retrievers are close to my heart.

From the combination with SOLVEIGH (FTA Solveigh Never Touching Ground), who, at her young age, has already demonstrated her outstanding retriever qualities many times (in workingtests, mock trials and field trials) – but also impresses with her excellent conformation – I expect puppies that meet my high standards; not least because I will keep a bitch from this unique combination myself.

We competed at the International Workingtest for Retrievers in Belgium, proudly being part of the Swedish National Team 2 – a strong competition with the best dogs from all Europe. Out of 40 teams entered, we ended up in rank 24. Thank you Lena @lhogfeld and Marita @maritagimser for your contribution, the good team spirit and also Richard and Amy @amy_haraldsson for the support and the great time we had.

With roots in Switzerland, I have been living in the middle of Sweden’s stunning nature for several years now – enjoying the best life, training gundogs and competing with my flatcoated retrievers on the highest standard. From time to time – when it’s time for myself to take a new puppy – I plan a litter of working flatcoats.

And this is how the journey began…

Mit Wurzeln in der Schweiz lebe ich seit einigen Jahren mitten in der unglaublich schönen Natur Schweden’s – genieße das das beste Leben, trainiere ‚Gundogs‘ und starte mit meinen Flatcoated Retrievern an ‚Competitions‘ auf höchstem Niveau. Alle paar Jahre – wenn es für mich selber an der Zeit ist, einen Welpen nach zu ziehen – plane ich einen Wurf mit ‚Working Flatcoats‘.

Und so begann die Reise…

On the 5th February 2010, we picked up Julia from Ragnhild Ulin in Eskilstuna (Sweden) and flew with her to Switzerland. Julia was born on the 7th December 2009 along with eight siblings, most of whom also flew out into the big wide world and were spread across Europe.

Julia was my first dog and with her, I fulfilled a lifelong dream. We had searched for a long time for a suitable flatcoat and found Julia in Sweden. Julia was a balanced, trustworthy dog with a wonderful character and outstanding retrieving skills. After a varied training including avalanche and water rescue, I used Julia primarily for hunting. The retriever work suited her very well and for many years we trained passionately in beautiful terrain, went picking-up during the season and participated in many workingtests, trials, and hunting competitions.

Julia became over 12 years old and with her typical flatcoat nature and great joy of life, she brought a smile to our hearts every day.

Am 5. Februar 2010 hatten wir Julia in Eskilstuna (Schweden) bei Ragnhild Ulin abgeholt und sind mit ihr in die Schweiz geflogen. Julia wurde am 7. Dezember 2009 geboren, zusammen mit 8 Geschwistern, von welchen ebenfalls die meisten in die grosse weite Welt ausgeflogen und quer über Europa verteilt waren.

Julia war mein erster Hund und mit ihr hatte ich mir einen grossen Lebenstraum erfüllt. Wir hatten lange nach einem passenden Flatcoat gesucht und haben Julia in Schweden gefunden. Julia war eine ausgeglichene, vertraute Hündin mit einem wunderbaren Charakter und hervorragenden Retrieverqualitäten. Nach einem vielseitigen Aufbau, u.a. auch in der Lawinen- und Wasserrettung, führte ich Julia überwiegend jagdlich. Die Retrieverarbeit (jagdliches Apportieren) lag ihr sehr und während vielen Jahren hatten wir mit viel Passion in schönen Geländen trainiert, gingen während der Saison auf Picking-up und sind an vielen Workingtests, Trials und jagdlichen Prüfungen gestartet.

Julia wurde über 12 Jahre alt und mit ihrem “flat’terhaften” Wesen und grossen Lebensfreude zauberte sie uns jeden Tag ein Lächeln in’s Herz.

After Julia had reached a very good level of training and I had the opportunity to experience a lot and celebrate several successes with her, I decided to get a second female flatcoated retriever.

After our visit to Ragnhild in Sweden in the summer of 2015, I was sure I wanted to try my luck again with an Almanza female. Johanna was bred to Vegas – a young male with promising working qualities – and Zelda – a granddaughter of Puzzle. We flew to Sweden and picked up Johanna from Ragnhild on the 24th May 2016.

Johanna had developed into a wonderful female with a remarkable character and incredible charm. She possessed all the qualities one would expect from a retriever – both at work and in everyday life. She was fast, very easy to train, had a good lining, a good temperament, and was easy to train – it was extremely fun to work with her and to compete in competitions. Her working qualities impressed me so much that I decided to have a litter with her in 2021.

Unfortunately, I had to say goodbye to Johanna far too soon, just one year after losing Julia. Johanna was incredibly close to me, and she will always hold a very special place in my heart.

I thank Ragnhild for the two wonderful bitches from her long-time breeding program Almanza.

Nachdem Julia einen sehr guten Trainingsstand erreicht hatte und ich mit ihr vieles erleben und einige Erfolge feiern durfte, hatte ich mich dazu entschlossen eine zweite Hündin dazu zunehmen.

Nach unserem Besuch bei Ragnhild in Schweden im Sommer 2015, war ich mir sicher, dass ich mein Glück erneut mit einer Almanza-Hündin versuchen möchte. Johanna stammte aus der Verpaarung mit Vegas – einem jungen Rüden mit vielversprechenden Arbeitsqualitäten – und Zelda – einer Enkelin von Puzzle. Wir sind nach Schweden geflogen und hatten Johanna am 24. Mai 2016 bei Ragnhild abgeholt.

Johanna hatte sich zu einer tollen Hündin entwickelt mit bemerkenswertem Charakter und unglaublich viel Charme. Sie brachte alle Eigenschaften mit, welche man von einem Retriever erwarten darf – bei der Arbeit wie auch im Alltag. Sie war schnell, sehr führig, hatte ein gutes ‚Lining‘, gutes Temperament und war einfach zu trainieren – es machte extrem viel Spass mit ihr zu arbeiten und an ‚Competitions‘ zu starten. Ihre Arbeitsqualitäten überzeugen mich so sehr, dass ich mich dazu entschlossen hatte, mit ihr einen Wurf im 2021 zu machen.

Leider musste mich viel zu früh von Johanna verabschieden, nur ein Jahr nachdem ich Julia verloren hatte. Johanna stand mir unglaublich nahe und sie wird immer einen ganz besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen haben.

Ich danke Ragnhild für die beiden wunderbaren Hündinnen aus ihrer langjährigen Zucht Almanza.

From Johanna’s litter, I kept Solveigh, a rather insecure but nevertheless very outgoing puppy, always by my side, very interested, calm and observant. She was also rather small and compact and my heart told me, she was the one I wanted.

Since then, little Solveigh has developed into a promising, young, fast (max. speed = 47 km/h) bitch with an excellent, balanced temperament, who is incredibly fun to be with. On one hand, she is a good hunter – after all she learned to hunt from her mother, a true Johanna daughter – but at the same time, she is rather «soft» and shows a great «will to please.»

With her unique, funny, charming nature, she always makes me laugh, both in training and in everyday life. We have already celebrated several successes together and I am very much looking forward to our continued time together – hopefully with many more adventures.

Aus Johanna’s Wurf habe ich Solveigh behalten, ein eher unsicherer, aber trotzdem sehr aufgeschlossener Welpe, immer an meiner Seite, sehr interessiert, ruhig und beobachtend. Zudem eher klein, kompakt und mein Herz sagte mir, dass sie die Auserwählte sein soll.

Seitdem hat sich die kleine Solveigh zu einer vielversprechenden, jungen, schnellen (Vmax=47km/h) Hündin entwickelt, mit hervorragendem, ausgeglichenem Temperament, die unglaublich viel Freude macht. Einerseits ist sie eine gute Jägerin – schliesslich hat sie das Jagen von ihrer Mutter gelernt, eine authentische Johanna-Tochter eben – zugleich ist sie eher ‹soft› und zeigt viel ‹will to please›.

Mit ihrer eigenen, lustigen, charmanten Art bringt sie mich im Training wie auch im Alltag immer wieder zum Lachen. Zusammen durften wir schon einige Erfolge feiern und ich freue mich sehr auf unsere weitere, gemeinsame Zeit – mit hoffentlich noch vielen Abenteuern.

My aim is to breed eager and equally healthy flatcoated retriever with harmonic exterior lines, which convince through their natural confidence and their retriever qualities. In particular my focus is on good temperament, on a high degree of will to please (without losing independence), a lucid mind and style – which for me is a mixture of initiative, expression, fluid movement and game finding ability.

To give the puppies a good start into life, they experience quite a lot during their first weeks – inside, in the outdoor area, during some little excursions – with the aim to facilitate good socializing and prepare them well. I give puppies to very well chosen places only, where they will be occupied in a sensible way according to their natural tendencies and where people work with them (retriever work, hunting, sports, service/rescue). Of course I will support my puppy buyers with words and deeds and I will help them to educate their new family member accordingly. Mein Zuchtziel ist es, gesunde Flatcoated Retriever zu züchten mit einem harmonischen Exterieur, welche durch ihre wesenssichere Art und ihre Retrieverqualitäten überzeugen. Dabei achte ich insbesondere auf gutes Temperament, ein hohes Mass an ‘will to please’ (ohne Selbständigkeit zu verlieren), einen klaren Verstand und Style – für mich eine Mischung aus Initiative, Ausdruck, fliessender Bewegung und ‘game finding ability’.

Um den Welpen einen optimalen Start ins Leben zu ermöglichen, erleben sie allerhand in ihren ersten Lebenswochen – drinnen, im Aussenbereich, auf kleinen Ausflügen – mit der Absicht, dass sie eine gute Sozialisierung erfahren und gut vorbereitet sind. Ich werde Welpen nur an sehr gut ausgewählte Plätze vergeben, bei welchen sie ihren Anlagen entsprechend sinnvoll beschäftig und mit ihnen gearbeitet wird (Retrieverarbeit, Jagd, Hundesport, Diensthunde-/Rettungswesen). Selbstverständlich stehe ich meinen Welpenkäufern mit Rat und Tat zur Seite und helfe ihnen bei der Ausbildung der neuen Familienmitglieder. Interessenten informieren sich bitte eingehend über die Rasse, ihren Ursprung, ihre Bestimmung und melden sich bitte frühzeitig per Mail.

Mikke (CH Dakotaspirit Just Like Jesse James) war ein Internationaler Showchampion C.I.B., sowie Champion in Finnland und Italien. Ich kenne ihn aus der Zeit, als er mit seiner Besitzerin und Züchterin Minna in Italien lebte und wir zusammen trainierten – damals mit Julia. Ich habe ihn als ausgeglichenen Rüden mit sehr guten Arbeitsqualitäten in Erinnerung. Zudem finde ich seinen Stammbaum sehr interessant. Als ich Minna im Februar in Finnland besucht habe, war ich vom Temperament und der Ausstrahlung ihrer Hunde beeindruckt; und ich wurde daran erinnert, weshalb mir Flatcoated Retriever am Herzen liegen.

Aus der Kombination mit Solveigh (FTA Solveigh Never Touching Ground), welche in ihrem jungen Alter bereits viele Male ihre herausragenden Retrieverqualitäten (an Workingtests, Mock Trials und Field Trials) bewiesen hat – aber auch mit ihrem exzellenten Exterieur überzeugt – erhoffe ich mir Welpen, die meinem hohen Standard entsprechen; nicht zuletzt, da ich selber eine Hündin aus diese Kombination behalten möchte.

Die Welpen aus diesem einzigartigen Wurf sind am 21. Januar in Schweden (Region Värnamo/JKPG) zur Welt gekommen. Ein schwarzer Rüde ist noch verfügbar und wäre ab Ende März 2026 bereit in sein neues Zuhause zu ziehen.

I started doing retriever work 15 years ago when I have imported my first flatcoated retriever bitch from Sweden to Switzerland. In the following years I was tied up into gundog work very intensively and became passionated. I was eager to learn, went to the UK several times for training days (e.g. with Jamie Bettinson) and traveled to compete in field trials and workingtests to Sweden, France, Italy and some other countries. I participated in over 200 competitions and collected many impressions. I have won a couple of competitions and made my flatcoat up to a Field Trial Champion in Italy when she was 5 years old – and also in France she has qualified for the FTCH title. Some other highlights were the qualification and participation at the International Workgintest in Belgium in 2015 and in 2017 I led my team as captain for the first time at the Windsor Charity Gundog Test. Furthermore my bitch FTCH Almanza Poetry In Motion was ranked as 2nd best open gundog in Switzerland in 2015 (Swiss Trophy) and in the season 2017/2018 she won the Flatcoat Challenge Trophy (best Working Flatcoated Retriever of Switzerland).

With my second bitch Almanza Never Touch Ground I was able to succeed at her young age in some field trials, mock trials and workingtests in open class as well. When she was 3 years old I competed with her i.a. at three big events, at the International Workingtest in the Netherlands, at the Brahetrolleborg Profine Nations Cup in Denmark and at the Flatmastership in Sweden. In the same year she was qualified for the French Championship and only a little later she reached the 2nd place in an open field trial in Italy. After her litter she became a Field Trial Champion (à la française) in France. In 2022 she won the Open Midland Area Workingtest of the FCRS in England.

With her daughter Solveigh Never Touching Ground I run as captain of the Swedish team at the Eurochallenge at the Game Fair in UK – she was the youngest in competition, only 15 months old and reached an excellent score over both days. The same summer I won with her a workingtest in Sweden with 99/100 points. In autumn she became second at her first field trial with RCACT in France. Solveigh won the Flatcoat Challenge Trophy two times in a row. At the age of 3, she consistently placed in the top places at open workingtests and mock trials and in the same season we achieved second place at the SGL (Swedish Gundog League) Championship – our first 2-day open field trial.

I offer individually balanced retriever training as one-to-one-sessions or in small groups as preparation for workingtests and field trials. On demand and agreement I can educate your retriever autonomously. In Småland/Sweden I have stunning and challenging training grounds available i.a. with lots of water – I spend the main part of the year there and it is easy to organize training camps.

Ich startete mit der Retriverarbeit vor 15 Jahren mit meiner ersten Flatcoated-Hündin, welche ich von Schweden in die Schweiz importierte. In den darauf folgenden Jahren wurde ich immer tiefer an die jagdliche Retrieverarbeit herangetragen und aus einer anfänglichen Neugier wurde Leidenschaft. Ich war voller Entdeckerfreude und wollte diese Arbeit von Grund auf kennen lernen. Ich reiste mehrere Male für Trainings nach England (z.B. zu Jamie Bettinson) und für die Teilnahme an Workingtests und Field Trials nach Schweden, Frankreich, Italien und einige weitere Länder. Ich habe an weit über 200 Wettbewerben teilgenommen und viele Eindrücke und Erfahrungen gesammelt. Ich habe einige Prüfungen gewonnen und so wurde meine Hündin im Alter von 5 Jahren Field Trial Champion in Italien. In Frankreich konnte sie sich ebenfalls für den FTCH-Titel qualifizieren. Zu den weiteren Höhepunkten zählen die Qualifizierung und Teilnahme am Internationalen Worktingtest in Belgien im Jahr 2015 und im Jahr 2017 startete ich zum ersten Mal als Captain mit meinem Team am Windsor Charity Gundog Team Test. Im Jahr 2015 wurde meine Hündin FTCH Almanza Poetry in Motion zudem als zweitbester Open Dog (Swiss Trophy) ausgezeichnet und in der Saison 2017/2018 gewann sie die Flatcoat Challenge Trophy (best Working Flatcoated Retriever of Switzerland).

Mit meiner zweiten Hündin Almanza Never Touch Ground konnte ich ebenfalls bereits in jungem Alter einige Erfolge an Field Trials, Mock Trials und Workingtests in der Open-Klasse erzielen. Mit 3 Jahren startete ich mit ihr u.a. an drei grossen Events, dem Internationalen Workingtest in den Niederlande, dem Brahetrolleborg Profine Nations Cup in Dänemark und am Flatmästerskapet in Schweden. Im selben Jahr qualifizierten wir uns zudem für den Coupe de France und nur wenig später erreichte Johanna den zweiten Platz an einem Open Field Trial in Italien. Nach ihrem Wurf wurde sie in Frankreich Field Trial Champion (à la française). In England gewann sie im 2022 den Open Midland Area Workingtest der FCRS.

Mit ihrer Tochter Solveigh Never Touching Ground startete ich an der Eurochallenge an der Game Fair in UK als Captain des Schwedischen Teams – sie war mit 15 Monaten die jüngste Hündin und erreichte über beide Tage eine vorzügliche Punktzahl. Im selben Sommer gewann ich mit ihr einen Workingtest in Schweden mit 99/100 Punkten. Im Herbst erreichte sie an ihrem ersten Field Trial den zweiten Platz mit RCACT in Frankreich. Solveigh gewann die Flatcoat Challenge Trophy zweimal in Folge. Mit 3 Jahren positionierte sie sich an Open Workingtests und Mock Trials konstant auf den vorderen Plätzen und in der selben Saison erreichten wir an der Championship der SGL (Swedish Gundog League) – unserem ersten 2-days Open Field Trial – den zweiten Platz.

Ich biete individuell abgestimmtes Retrievertraining als One-to-one-Sessions oder in Kleingruppen als Vorbereitung für Workingtests und Field Trials. Auf Wunsch und in Absprache kann ich Ihren Retriever auch autonom ausbilden. In Småland/Schweden stehen mir unglaublich schöne und anspruchsvolle Trainingsgelände u.a. mit vielen Seen zur Verfügung – ich verbringe den Grossteil des Jahres da, organisierte Trainingcamps bieten sich an.
